About Rameel
Rameel Hamid is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) with a background in regulatory compliance and risk management. His professional work has centred on identifying issues, applying policy correctly, and delivering structured, accountable outcomes — the same standard he wants to bring to Regional Council.
Rameel currently serves as a Community Policing Assistant with the Ontario Provincial Police's Risk Management Bureau in Orillia, where he analyzes operational data to support intelligence-led decision-making and improve information management processes. (Rameel's candidacy is not sponsored, endorsed, or supported by the OPP or the RCMP.) Outside of that role, he has spent years volunteering — as a Children's Rights Advocacy & Fundraising volunteer with Results Canada, and previously as a member of the RCMP's National Youth Advisory Committee, where he helped shape youth engagement recommendations for national programs.
He's fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi — reflecting the makeup of the communities he wants to represent — and brings that same attention to detail and follow-through to how he plans to serve Sutton, Keswick, and Pefferlaw on Regional Council.
The platform
Roads & infrastructure
Growth in Georgina can't outpace the roads and services that support it. Rameel will push for a clear plan on road repair and snow-clearing schedules, and make sure new developments pay their fair share toward the infrastructure their growth demands — not existing residents.
Protecting the shoreline
Lake Simcoe is Georgina's biggest asset — for tourism, property values, and quality of life. Rameel will support stronger water-quality protections and hold developers accountable to environmental standards before shoreline projects get approved.
Affordable growth
Georgina is growing fast, and that growth needs to pay for itself. Rameel will advocate for development charges that cover the real cost of new infrastructure, so long-time residents and seniors aren't stuck footing the bill through higher property taxes.
A transparent council
Residents deserve a councillor who's reachable — not just during election season. Rameel is committing to regular, plain-language budget updates and open town halls so people know exactly where their tax dollars are going.
